Nominator's project description

Professor Makarov is well-known internationally for his outstanding research in the theory of stochastic systems and non-equilibrium thermodynamics. He has made important contributions to transition state theory and its applications to single-molecule physics, chemical reaction kinetics as well as the modelling of protein dynamics and biological cells. During his stay in Germany he intends to further develop and apply his theories to tackle important problems in polymer (protein) conformational dynamics, chemical reactions, out-of-equilibrium dynamics of small systems and to model a wide class of single-molecule experiments.
